8-11 November 2016, New Delhi GEOASIA 2016 - 6TH ASIAN REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON GEOSYNTHETICS

 

Indian Chapter had the honour of hosting the First Asian Regional Conference on Geosynthetics in November 1997 in Bangalore. On this occasion, Mr. Peter E. Stevenson, the then Secretary of the IGS, in his message had mentioned that “while the organization of this conference is a crowning achievement for the Indian Chapter, I and my fellow officers of the IGS are sure that Geosynthetics Asia ’97 will prove to be the launch pad for a very important series of regional conferences in Asia”. After the successful series of Asian Regional Conferences in Kuala Lumpur (2000), Seoul (2004), Shanghai (2008) and Bangkok (2012), it is back to India in 2016, from where the seeds of these regional conferences were planted. Geosynthetics Asia 2016 is a conference of technical excellence and show case of Indian traditional hospitality.

16-17 November 2016, New Delhi TECO NETWORKING CONFERENCE

 

The first Networking Conference of the Teco Project is an opportunity to boost research and innovation collaboration between EU and India in the field of environmental sciences applied to the decontamination of polluted waters and soils. A hub to stimulate new opportunities for the private sector to deliver appropriate innovations which are able to provide solutions for local contexts even through a reinforced link between research and public institutions. An open discussion to enforce the collaboration between a network of people with the same goals of preservation of water and soil resources in a social vision. Representatives of public bodies and private companies, researchers, engineers, innovators and managers interested in starting up new Indo-European initiatives in the field of water and soil resources are invited to join the conference.

21-23 November 2016, Kalmar (Sweden) LINNAEUS ECO-TECH 2016 - 10TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF COOPERATION BETWEEN COMPANIES AND INSTITUTIONS IN THE NORDIC COUNTRIES, THE BALTIC SEA REGION AND THE WORLD

 

Linnaeus Eco-Tech has been an academic tradition since 1997. Arranged every second year, this is the fourth time the conference is arranged as a part of the recently formed Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden. This is the first call for the 2016 conference. Linnaeus Eco-Tech is based on cooperation between university, industry and policy makers, with the goal of improving relations between these sectors. The objective of such a cooperation is to develop environmental technologies and sustainability in the Baltic Sea Region and the World. 25 November 2016, Beijing (China) EU-CHINA WORKSHOP ON SOIL POLLUTION

 

Soil is the basis for 90% of all human food, livestock feed, fibre and fuel. It supports human settlements and provides raw materials and groundwater. Soil is, however, increasingly contaminated. Today, soil pollution is a widespread problem of varying intensity and significance across the world, including in the European Union and China. The European Environment Agency estimates that there are between 2.5 and 3 million potentially contaminated sites in the European Union – a legacy of 250 years of industrialisation; of which about half a million pose significant risks to human health or the environment. According to an official study released in 2014, almost a fifth of China's soil is contaminated. There are three million potentially contaminated sites in the EU.
